This will help you if you’re in business and it seems like there isn’t enough (business).

If you have been working on the same business (or business idea) for a year or more (or 10) and it’s not getting there yet, you’re target customer is wrong. Or worse yet, you don’t even have a real or accurate target at all. Argue with me if you must, but I can prove it every single time.

You can test for this with money. If there isn’t enough flowing, you have a target problem. As entrepreneurs and business owners, we measure a LOT with money (top line and bottom line $$). As you may know, it’s not a problem if you can solve it with money :)

It only makes sense to measure this way in business. It’s not the only measurement of course, but if your business can’t hit the numbers you need to be reasonably comfortable within 12 months, there is likely something else wrong that’s critically important to your success. If you don’t have the business revenue you want or need after 1 year+, you’re looking under the wrong rock. Or, more accurately, you are looking under a small stone when you need a massive boulder or two - or a glacier.

Here’s the point…

It should feel easy to find the next customer. If that’s not true then the target is not dialed in. It should feel like you are ‘shooting fish in a barrel’.

What’s the fix? Go back to the drawing board and target way more accurately. Get laser-focused on a very specific person who represents your ideal customer (avatar). Then make your product or service and your marketing and your whole business line up behind that ideal.

Almost nobody does this well. When you see someone who is ultra-successful and you wonder why… This is definitely something they have won.
