Peaceful Disruption

Winning in advance

Margin is always the key to calm and peace. Not too much margin - but some.

If you have a meeting at 9am, plan to get there at 8:50am. For the sake of this example, you shouldn’t plan to get there at 8:25am because that’s too early and now you’ve got more margin than you needed. It probably would have been better to spend that time in another way.

The operative word here ‘plan’ which means you had to decide to leave 10+ minutes earlier in order to make that happen. You decided ahead of time to create a little extra margin for yourself and that creates peace. Now when life happens and you lose some time, it won’t matter nearly as much because you’ll still be on time.

Key point = Think about & plan margin. When you are thinking - Think Margin.

Money margin is even bigger than time margin in real life. This is the greatest thing I ever learned from Dave Ramsey. 6 months of money margin changes everything. If you don’t have this yet, it should be your top financial priority. Once you win that, now you are able to handle every challenge that comes your way because you’ll have time to respond and handle it. Disruption is no longer nearly as disruptive.

You just need ‘enough’ and you don’t need more than enough. It’s not a million dollars or a million minutes or a million rolls of toilet paper. But just a few. Don’t run out of toilet paper (and that’s more critical than all the others) but too many rolls is a problem of its own.
