Hand Over Fist

Next one please

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time! Right?

The phrase ‘hand over fist’ originated hundreds of years ago to describe the way sailors climb a rope. One hand over the other. Originally, it was ‘hand over hand’. It eventually became the phrase we know today - Hand Over Fist.

It was intended to describe the ‘one bite at a time method’. They were sharing how things really get done. One step at a time. One day at a time. One hand over the other. Slow and steady wins the race. God goes slowly. He doesn’t microwave anything.

If you think 10 hands ahead you’re gonna lose.

If you go right hand then right (without a left) you’re likely to fall to the deck.

Don’t let go. Don’t think too far ahead.

Just play the next hand.

So many metaphors! :)
