Busy vs Hurry

Never the latter

Hurry is lethal. It’s the inner grind that eventually causes heart attacks.

Busy (when it’s healthy) is just that full-day schedule that feels super satisfying when the day is done.

There is a world of difference between being busy vs being in a hurry. Busyness is something on the outside. It’s all the things that need to get done. It’s hard to avoid in this world. We do our best to manage busyness. It feels good to be ‘healthy’ busy. The opposite would be pretty boring. Let’s call busy ‘a full life’.

Being in a hurry is an inward condition. It’s a bad grind. It’s that sinking gut feeling that makes you feel anxious and even afraid. It’s that ‘never enough time’ feeling. Hurry does not come from God. Just say no to hurry.

Hurry says I have to do it all. Hurry says I can’t trust God to show up. The world imposes hurry on us if we let it. Push back.

Hurry says I can’t be fully present with God and with others. Hurry says I’m unavailable to joy and peace.

Busy is a joyful, active life. Busy is a physically demanding day of yard work and the wonderful feeling at the end. Busy is family and friends and clients and fun. Don’t let it become something else.
